boston

back from a super weekend in boston with my sis.
which was great fun, even though something bad happened to me every single day there.

first day was raining like a bitch and cold like frozen hell. carrying heavy ass bags and walking uber long distances in that kinda weather aint no joke man.

second day, i dropped my camera while attempting to take some retard photo. hard. and the lens smashed in assymetrically. so the lens couldnt be retracted in anymore, and the images on the camera were blurry so the camera just couldnt function. and so i spent 30 minutes in faneuil hall marketplace whining and blaming all corners of the world while my sister patiently waited (secretly dulan with me). after all our pulling and pushing, i got my cam to work again. although the lens doesnt get covered by the protective metal anymore. i was so happy, i honestly cried. and what did my sis do? - take a photo of me looking absolutely retarded crying in the middle of boston. sigh.

third day, i decided to spin a souvenir penny to add to my collection. i spun once, and the coin came out wonky. so i tried again, and it was still wonky! tamade, wasted 1 dollar and 2 cents!!!!!

-

but still, i love boston. for the perfect weather, awesome architecture, beautiful views along the river and wharf, jealousy-inducing campuses, idiot-proof clean safe subways, the easy accessibility of everyplace with just a pair of legs, the chill vibe and most of all - LOBSTERS.
baked lobsters stuffed with cheese and scallops = intestinal orgasm. combine that with new england clam chowder and shrimp and garlic. absolutely button-bursting!!!! i did wear a button shirt that day. haha.

-

i also went down to MGH to kiss the wall.
it looks way nicer and more zhng than mount sinai.
daym.

and, the coffee seller wears labcoat!

-

following the red brick road of the freedom trail was fun. but being photo-whores and with the trail running right through downtown with all the awesome shopping, we obviously didnt complete it. hah. but nvm, cos next year i will be going back! :)

i am a little disturbed at seeing graveyards smack in the middle of downtown though.

ok library just shut the lights out on us. so update again later

newyorkin!

and so after SGD3000 worth of admin stuff, we're finally in new york!
with air-con weather and warm blue skies. which is great cos it means less pimples. which is also great cos it means nicer photos.

thai airways was okay, worth the $600 less. but we kept getting mistaken as thais. i dont like it, cos that means people might think i'm a bapok when i'm really just a girl. -.-
also, you either get a good seat with bad tv, or bad seat with good tv. some overzealous freak pushed the recliner button right in, so poor manny had to shift seat to sleep. i didnt really know howto take advantage of a double seat and ended up giving myself an ulnar claw while sleeping.

bkk was big and glassy, but a disappointment cos there wasn't much stuff in the transit lounge like singapore has. there wasn't even enough seats! we tried to check in to the gate early to get a seat. and checking in involves a molestation procedure that i took a picture of and markosim got scolded for. but he got body searched by a girl, so all is good lah.

-

on day 1, lunch was famiglia's pizza. the italian cashier dude was extremely amusingly funny. his mouth shoots off faster than rabbit shit pellets:
manny me and an old hag who cut queue were in line- "hey, you guys charlie's angels or something?"
i was a bit blur with ordering- "hey you want a soda? or you actually just wanna stand there and watch me work all day?"
then we did auntie stuff like get groceries, toilet paper and garbage bags with coupons and discounts no less.
next, we actually wento the MOMA with krispy kreme glazed eyes cos it was target free day. it was amusing how we would chiong the benches at the galleries to sit down and doze. low min then took us to a japanese restaurant for ramen. which is retrospect is funny how we ate jap food on day 1 in america.

day 2 was waiting in the cold for an hour alone for my sis to arrive. attracting lots of weird stares from the cao ang mohs, cos the wind was really strong and chilly. and the first thing my sis said to me was: "wah! your hair damn ugly! what did you do to it?!" referring to my golden blonde orange hair that no one else but me likes. -.- some love.
then it was shopping at soho and dinner in koreatown. 2 consecutive days of asian dinners!

day 3 was some brooklyn love-hate. subway systems on weekends are the bane of my new york life. renovations, service changes, low frequency trains and piss-filled corridors don't make for the best travel journey. i promise to not complain abt singapore MRT for at least 1 week when i come home!!
we took 1 1/2 hours to get to our destination. but when we exited the subway, the weather was warm and sunny. so everybody loved brooklyn. and the brooklyn brownstoner flea market was good fun. so we still loved brooklyn.
then we went to the cherry blossom festival in the brooklyn botanical gardens, the main highlight of our borough excursion. it was beautiful. the cherry blossoms, the tulips, the bonsais ( bonsais are my weird fascination), and the other random flowers. and yes, lynn layed on the grass.
my absolute fav and almost my main aim of going was honestly the ORIGINAL SUSHI PILLOW. <3
then the real shit started. thanks to service changes, one way trains with no prior warnings and shitty weekend subways in general (tmd long waiting time), we ended up spending 2 fucking hours in the subway. which is damn smeally too.
first we couldnt get to our foodie place in caroll gardens, then we couldnt fucking leave brooklyn to get back to manhattan cos the stupid train was one way. anyway, after much backtracking and train waiting and kaobeing and fuck swearing, we all hate hoyt-schermerhorn and UTICA AVENUE. (yah, the stupid station is red.)
seriously.
so in the end to make up for the shit hole, we headed to katz deli for dinner of the famous pastrami on rye. which was not what i expected and was expensive, but it was okay lah.

and today was first day at elective. i was given wrong directions and ended up reporting to a dietician in endocrinology -.-
then, the first case i saw was NAI with subdural haematoma and retinal haemorrhages. o_o
then we had a pseudo code yellow and spent about half an hour searching for a 4year old kid. which we never did find btw.
then i tried to call my sister and accidentally called 911 twice!
what a good start eh.

ah well, new day tomorrow!

pictures up soon!
